ViPNet Safe Disk Editor's Review

'ViPNet Safe Disk' can safely store sensitive data on your hard disk by encrypting it. The encryption process is invisible to the user, because the program uses a kernel driver to access the encrypted data. The program creates virtual drives that appear in "My Computer". Each drive is accessible only after you enter the password that is used to protect your data.

The main window of the application allows you to disconnect all the virtual drives by clicking just a button. Two special working modes are available, called "Danger mode" and "Extreme Danger Mode". In "Extreme Danger Mode", you can even destroy all the data on the virtual drives immediately by pressing the 'Destroy' button three consecutive times. The computer will immediately shut down and all containers will disappear. You must know that all data in the containers will be lost beyond recovery if you choose to use the "Extreme Danger Mode".

Each virtual drive keeps its content in a file on your hard drive. The files that store the data are encrypted using either the AES or the GOST encryption algorithms. The size of the virtual drive is only limited by the free space on your hard drive.
